It’s that time of year again!! In just a few weeks, Ohio Special Olympics will notify the local organizations of the number of their athletes that are invited to the Summer Games, and the amount of their registration fee that is covered by the Masons of Ohio. In previous years there have been between 2,500 and 3,000 athletes that participate in these games.
This year we are again asking for your lodge or organization to support this worthwhile cause with the same enthusiasm that you have in the past. In order to give Ohio Special Olympics timely notification of the amount of our donation this year, please try to forward your donations to the Grand Lodge of Ohio Charitable Foundation by June 19 th , 2018. Make sure that the amount that is to go to the Special Olympics sponsorship is separated on the form which is attached, or your lodge name and number are in the memo line on the check. We must keep your donation to Special Olympics separate from other donations to our foundation for accounting purposes. If an individual writes a check, be sure the remitter puts Special Olympics and the Lodge number in the memo section (Special Olympics-#274).
We are only half way to our goal so all contributions – small or large – are greatly appreciated.
The lodges and other bodies contributed generously last year to sponsor the entry fees of athletes and coaches from their communities. We believe that this year’s Special Olympians deserve no less an effort from the Masons of Ohio. Remember all donations to the Charitable Foundation are tax deductible.
PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THE OPENING CEREMONIES FOR THE SUMMER GAMES ON FRIDAY JUNE 22, 2018 AT THE JESSE OWENS SPORTS COMPLEX IN COLUMBUS.
As in previous years, the Masons will be recognized during the program. Registration will open at 4:00pm. We will eat at 5:30 pm served by the Ohio Grotto Association. The first 500 Masons registered will receive a special hat and pin, all registrants will receive a pin. Bring a lawn chair and an apron. Food will be provided by the Ohio Grotto Association, we will eat prior to the parade, around 5:30 p.m. Dress for the day is dark slacks and white shirt.
